United States President Donald Trump has agreed to grant an immediate visa to the mother of 15-year-old Ghanaian teenager Javits Frimpong, who was fatally shot while walking to school in the Bronx, New York.
The announcement was made by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Saturday, October 31, following a telephone conversation with President Trump.
In a statement shared on social media, Mamdani said the grieving mother, who is currently in Ghana, deserves the opportunity to travel to the United States to say her final goodbye to her son in person.
“The murder of a child is a pain no parent should have to endure, let alone from thousands of miles away,” Mamdani stated.
He added that he had spoken directly with President Trump, who agreed to grant the mother a visa immediately.
