Adoagyiri: One dead, two others injured after youth groups clash; police restore calm

The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that two persons have died after some youth groups clashed in Nsawam Adoagyiri in the Eastern Region.

The police in a statement issued on May 23, 2025 explained that investigations have indicated that on May 20, 2025 a shooting incident occurred at Adoagyiri which resulted in the death of one person and injuries to one other person.

Police say this caused a reprisal attack from some youth groups in the vicinity where the youth numbering about 300 blocked the road, burnt tyres and vandalized some shops and vehicles within the vicinity.

The reprisal attack by the youth groups resulted in injuries to three other people who were sent to the hospital for medical attention.

However, one of the victims, Isaah Masawudu died at the hospital. Following his death, the youth of Adoagyiri Zongo went on rampage leading to the disturbances.

Immigration Service intercepts 1,115 gallons of smuggled cocoa beans at Ave-Havi border

Officers of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) at the Akanu Sector Command, in collaboration with the Ghana Revenue Authority-Customs Division, have intercepted a truck loaded with smuggled cocoa beans at the Ave-Havi border post.

Acting on intelligence, the officers stopped a truck with registration number AS 2103-W, driven by one Ibrahim Fatawu. 

A thorough inspection of the vehicle revealed 1,115 gallons stuffed with cocoa beans, which were being transported illegally across the border into Togo.

Following the interception, the truck was impounded, and the smuggled cocoa beans have been handed over to officials of COCOBOD for further action. 

The driver is currently assisting security agencies in their investigations.

In a statement, the Ghana Immigration Service cautioned individuals engaged in cocoa smuggling to desist from such illegal activities, emphasizing the negative impact on Ghana’s economy and the significant revenue losses incurred by the government.

The Service also commended members of the border community for their vigilance and cooperation in safeguarding Ghana’s borders against illicit trade.

Cocoa remains one of Ghana’s most valuable exports, and authorities have been intensifying efforts to curb smuggling, which undermines government revenue and affects farmers’ livelihoods.

National Security intercepts 12 containers of fake US dollars, suspected gold bars

National Security operatives have intercepted a significant haul of counterfeit money and suspected gold bars concealed within twelve 20-foot shipping containers.

Acting on a tip-off, officers raided a warehouse in Sapeiman, within the Ga South Municipality, where the illegal stash was uncovered.

Upon inspection, bundles of fake US dollars were found inside wooden boxes, which had been hidden within cement to avoid detection. Other items seized included counterfeit Ghana cedi notes, as well as fake Ghana Army uniforms and boots, raising further security concerns.

Authorities have confirmed that two of the containers remain unaccounted for, with intensified efforts underway to locate them.

Meanwhile, a manhunt has been launched for four individuals, including a suspected ringleader identified only as Alhaji. National Security has assured the public that investigations are ongoing to dismantle the operation and bring all culprits to justice.

A$AP Rocky Trial Detective Testifies In Court That Real Gun Was Fired.

LAPD Detective Frank Flores claimed that “the distinct sound of a firearm” was heard in surveillance footage.

After nearly a week of absence, Rihanna reentered A$AP Rocky’s trial in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday, February 6.

The prosecution was concluding its presentation when the singer and entrepreneur arrived later in the day during her partner’s gun assault trial. Rocky, real name Rakim Mayers, is charged with two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm involving a confrontation with his former friend, Terrell Epheron, formerly A$AP Relli.

According to the Associated Press, five witnesses were called to testify on Thursday afternoon, including two legal authorities, a firearms expert, and a detective. As previously reported, Epheron and Mayers became friends in high school years before their relationship became strained, leading to a violent confrontation in Hollywood on November 6, 2021. While Epheron wasn’t seriously injured, he claims bullets grazed his knuckles, although the defense alleges that the weapon was a prop gun previously used in a music video.

Furthermore, Rihanna attended three days of the trial last week, where she reportedly sat between Mayer’s mother, Renee Black, and sister, Erica B. Rihanna and the “Tailor Swif” rapper share two sons, RZA, 2, and Riot, 18 months.

The trial was thrown into a tailspin during separate incidents of shouting matches between Epheron and Mayers’ attorney, Joe Tacopina, involving allegations of whether Epheron planned to extort the rapper. Presumably backing the prosecution’s claim that the firearm was legitimate is LAPD Detective Frank Flores, who testified that the surveillance video revealed “the distinct sound of a firearm” or “some kind of replica firearm potentially.”

Driver’s mate jailed 16 years for robbery

 A 21-year-old driver’s mate who robbed two people of their mobile phones valued at GHC4,200 after pulling a pair of scissors on them has been sentenced to 16 years in prison by a Circuit Court in Accra.

Jeffery Johnson allegedly stabbed one of the victims, Ebenezer Danquah, in the right hand with the scissors.

Johnson, who was charged with robbery and causing harm, pleaded not guilty.

However, after the trial, the court, presided over by Mrs. Afia Owusuaa Appiah, found him guilty and sentenced him accordingly.

The prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Wisdom Alorwu, explained that the first victim, Ebenezer Danquah, was a chef, and the second victim was a kitchen attendant. Both worked at Papaye Food Company, while Johnson, now a convict, was a driver’s mate and lived in Teshie, Accra.

On February 17, 2024, between 1:00 am and 1:30 am, Johnson and an accomplice, who is still at large, rode their motorbike to the victims’ house. They attacked the victims, robbing them of an iPhone X, a Huawei, and Itel phones totaling GHC4,200 before fleeing.

The victims raised an alarm, and residents helped catch Johnson, while his accomplice escaped.

Johnson was identified by the victims and handed over to the police, who found an Itel phone and the scissors on him.

The court heard the details of the crime and sentenced Johnson to 16 years in prison.

Bobrisky sentenced to 6 months in jail for Naira abuse

 

Popular Nigerian crossdresser, Bobrisky has been sentenced to six months in prison for abusing and tampering with the Naira by a Federal High Court in Lagos.

In the West African country's laws, a person who tampers with the Naira note or coin is guilty of an offence, punishable by law.

Vanguard Nigeria reported that the crossdresser, born Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, was not given an option of a fine during the sentencing on Friday, April 12.

According to the judge, Justice Abimbola Awogboro, this is to set an example and deter other people from damaging the currency in any way or form going forward.

Meanwhile, Bobrisky’s jail term commences from the day of his arrest, March 24, 2024.

Also, the crossdresser who over the past few years has insisted on being called a woman, is expected to spend his time in the men’s prison.

He reportedly told the judge he is a man when asked about his gender before sentencing.

Bobrisky was arrested after a video surfaced showing him spraying wads of cash at the premiere of Eniola Ajao’s ‘Beasts of Two Worlds’ movie on March 24, 2024.Following Bobrisky’s arrest, the EFCC revealed that aside from the March 24 incident, their investigation found that Bobrisky had tampered with the naira on several occasions in 2023. 

The influencer was also charged with two counts of money laundering. According to the agency, the crossdresser failed to report to appropriate institutions the activities of a company he established called the Bob Express.

Bobrisky was brought before the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a six-count charge, four of which pertained to abusing the Naira and two to money laundering following his arrest.

However, two of the charges of money laundering were dropped.

Bobrisky was convicted by the Federal High Court in Lagos after pleading guilty to charges related to the abuse of the Naira.

According to a report by the newspaper, Punch Nigeria on Friday, April 5, the social media influencer told the court he was unaware that tampering with the Naira note or coin is an offence punishable by law.

Bobrisky told the court he was remorseful; adding that should he be given a second chance, he would take the opportunity to educate his followers against spraying money.

He also promised to upload a video on the subject matter and never to repeat the mistake.

 

 

 

Release Him And Jail Me, He Only Dug Hole For Burying A Victim – Chief Who Buried Nurse Trainee Begs Court To Acquit 3rd Suspect

 The Cape Coast District Court ll presided over by Her Worship Bernice Mensimah Ackon has refused bail for 3 suspects involved in the murder of Georgina Asor Botchwey at Mankessim.

The three accused persons on trial –Christopher Ekow Clarke Quansah; Tufohene of Ekumfi Akwakrom, Michael Darko; a self styled pastor and Jonathan Obeng, a husband to Nana Clarke’s cousin, have all been linked to the murder of 25-year-old lady who had gone for a psychiatric nursing school interview at Ankaful on September 9.

Presenting the fact of the case to the court, Deputy Superintendent of Police Daniel Gadzo appealed to the court to remand the accused persons into police cusdody for more time to investigate the case.

The court granted the request made by the prosecutor and asked that the three be kept until their next appearance.

 Meanwhile, the main suspect of the murder, Ekow Quansah Clarke had pleaded for the third victim to be exonerated.

He said the mason is innocent and did not know anything about the conspiracy to kill Georgina Asor Botchwey.

 Christopher Ekow Clarke explained in court on Tuesday that the 26-year-old mason, Jonathan Obeng, was not part of the crime because he was only contacted to dig the hole for burying the victims. 

So he pleaded the court to release the mason and jail him since he is the architect of the crime.

But according to the Prosecution, Jonathan Obeng equally acted with a common purpose with the first two suspects to commit the crime.

The court said he (Christopher Ekow Clarke ) should relay any information he has to his lawyer since the facts of the case is yet to be entered.

Speaking to the media after the court hearing, an aunt of the deceased asserted that the accused know they are guilty; hence, the family does not expect any delay in the proceedings.

The government should sanction them accordingly to ensure that everyone is pleased. I am confident that on October 18 when they reappear before the court, they would admit that they guilty.

“It is clear they are guilty; so, the court should not continue adjourning the case. It should rather expedite the trial. Currently as I speak to you, the deceased’s sister has been left in total shock; her life has been messed up by this case. I doubt if she would even have the courage to marry or show interest in any man,” Kate Swanzy said.

The three accused persons will be in court for the third time on Tuesday, October 18, 2022..

Two arrested over sale of ECG meters

 The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has dragged two persons before an Accra Circuit Court for conspiring and illegally selling the company’s meter.

Charles Kotei and Frank Ofori have been charged with conspiracy to commit crime and intentionally interfering with the ECG’s distribution system.

The two pleaded not guilty.

The court presided over by Mr Samuel Bright Acquah admitted Kotei and Ofori to bail in the sum of GHS20,000 with two sureties each, who should be Ghanaians.

The prosecution led by Mr Paul Assibi Abariga told the court that the complainant in the case, Ankudey Rocky, is an ECG Technician, whilst Kotei and Ofori reside at Danfa and Adenta respectfully.

The prosecution said Rocky and one Belinda Kafui, an ECG Technician, who is also a witness in the case, were on duty inspecting ECG meters at Adenta New site and its environs when they both noticed that some installed meters were unauthorized.

According to the prosecutor, their investigation revealed that all the unauthorised meters were supplied by Ofori.

The prosecution said Rocky and Kafui went to Ofori and presented themselves as National Service persons who wanted a meter for their rented apartment.

Ofori told them that he could get a meter if they paid GHS1,200 in cash.

The prosecution said on September 28, 2023, Rocky and Kafui together with the police went to the complainant’s house with the intent to purchase meter from Ofori.

The prosecutor told the court that Ofori brought a meter with serial number 191499941 labeled property of Ministry of Energy to sell to them and he was arrested.

The prosecution said Ofori in his investigation caution statement stated that during the months of November and December 2022, Kotei provided him with about 40 meters to sell.

It said Ofori indicated that he had sold all the meters and was left with only one.The Prosecutor said Kotei was arrested and stated in his statement that he obtained the meters from one Foli Atigah from Nsawam.

But Kotei could not lead police to the said Foli Atigah’s house at Nsawam for his arrest.

‘I accept responsibility’- House help who murdered his madam tells court

 A house help who allegedly murdered his employer at Sokoban-Apaaso in the Ashanti Region has accepted responsibility for the crime.

Allister John, 22, and his accomplice, James Anokye, made his maiden court appearance for the murder of 35-year-old Stella Osei aka Princess Afua Ahenkan.

Despite the plea of the accused persons not being taken, the key suspect broke bounds and raised his hand to signal he had something to say.

‘I accept responsibility and plead with the court to be lenient with me,’ he said in Twi before the Asokore Mampong District Court.

He pleaded with the court to free the second accused person, James Anokye, whom he said did not take part in the crime.

According to Allister, he lied to Anokye to help him cart some family belongings to Accra.

Despite being reminded by the court that his plea was not being taken, the accused insisted and pleaded for leniency in open court.

Alister and an accomplice, Anokye have been slapped with conspiracy to commit murder and murder contrary to sections 23(1) and 46 of the Criminal Offences Act (Act 29) of 1960

It comes as police hunt for three other accomplices, following the arrest of the two from their hideout in Accra.

Allister, according to prosecution, invited drivers, Anokye and Biggie to the Apaaso home of his employer.

The three drove the deceased’s KIA Sportage vehicle with registration GS 307-21 and sold it to a third accomplice, John Obu.

Police prosecution prayed the court to remand the accused persons into police custody to allow for further investigations.

It also prayed the court to order the release of the KIA Sportage car to the husband of the deceased, and also impound a Toyota Vitz vehicle the first accused bought from the sale of the KIA vehicle.

Prosecutor, ASP Stephen Ofori, says though the prosecution takes cognisance of the remarks by the accused person, the prosecution will go all out to investigate and bring all those involved to stand full trial.

The court, presided by Samuel Buabin Quansah, adjourned the hearing to October 3, 2023.

Niger crisis could plunge West Africa serious security situation

 The security situation in wider West Africa could worsen if the crisis in Niger is not resolved, the top UN envoy for the region said on Tuesday.

“The unfolding crisis, if not addressed, will exacerbate the deteriorating security situation in the region,” Leonardo Santos Simão, the UN secretary-general’s special representative for West Africa and the Sahel, told reporters at the UN headquarters in New York via video teleconference from Accra, Ghana.

It will also negatively impact the development and lives of the population in a country where 4.3 million people need humanitarian assistance, added the envoy, who also heads the UN Office for West Africa and the Sahel.

Simão underscored support for efforts by the Economic Community of West African States to restore democratic order in Niger, and warned that if measures are not taken, or the situation is not reversed, “it is very likely the spread of terrorism in the region can increase.”

Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday expressed deep concern over reports of the arrest of several members of Niger’s government.

Guterres urgently called for the strict adherence to Niger’s international human rights obligations and the prompt restoration of constitutional order, his deputy spokesman Farhan Haq told reporters.

Haq also said that the United Nations and humanitarian partners are committed to staying and continuing to provide vital aid to the most vulnerable segments of the population in Niger.

“To ensure the continuation of this crucial assistance, it is imperative that all parties foster a conducive operating environment,” he said.

President Nana Akufo-Addo says he will support any New Patriotic Party flagbearer aspirant who can unite and win next year’s presidential election for the party.

According to him, he has been given the opportunity to vote for just one aspirant as all polling station executives across the country are entitled to.

He made this known in a tweet on Wednesday, August 2, when he met NPP communicators who called on him at the Jubilee House.

President Akufo-Addo asserted that he will cast his vote for an aspirant who he believes can “inflict a third successive defeat on the perennial NDC Presidential Candidate, John Dramani Mahama.”

Saudi King Declares Holiday After Shock Win Over Argentina

Saudi Arabia has declared a national holiday tomorrow after the football team's 2-1 win against Argentina at the FIFA World Cup, state media reported. All public and private employees will get a holiday tomorrow, Saudi King Salman announced today. Schools will also remained closed.

The move comes in the middle of final exams in the Gulf nation, indicating that they will have to be rescheduled.

Lady connives with her friend to sell her 3-week-old baby for $1422

 A 25-year-old lady, identified as Mary Olatayo, has been arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Police Command for conniving with her friend to sell her 3-week-old baby for N600,000.

The suspect was nabbed by the police on August 18 2022, along with her accomplice whose name was given as Chioma Esther Ogbonna.

She was arrested following a complaint lodged by the father of her child at the Mowe Divisional Police Headquarters, after the child suddenly disappeared.

The man who disclosed that he was dating Olatayo when she got pregnant for him, said he rented an apartment for her to be staying permanently because of their child,

However, three weeks after she gave birth to their son, she left the apartment with the baby only for him to find her at a hotel, where she allegedly went for ‘hookup’ with another man.

He said he employed every means to find the baby but it was futile so he resolved to report the case to the police.

'My cousin was murdered last night, stabbed in the neck" - Boxing champion, Tyson Fury calls for end to knife crime

 WBC Boxing heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury has called on the British government to do more to tackle knife crime as he revealed that his cousin has been stabbed to death.

 

The heavyweight world champion announced on Instagram on Sunday,  August 21 that his cousin Rico Burton was murdered Saturday night.

He said: "My cousin was murdered last night, stabbed in the neck.

 

"This is becoming ridiculous - idiots carry knives. This needs to stop."

He went on to demand the government "bring back higher sentencing for knife crime".

He added: "It's a pandemic.

 

"You don't know how hard it is until it's one of your own."Life is very precious and it can be taken away very quick. Enjoy every moment.

 

"RIP Rico Burton - may the lord God grant you a good place in heaven, see you soon."

 

 

It is believed Mr Burton was involved in a fight outside a bar in Altrincham that saw two people stabbed, the Manchester Evening news reports.

Police say the incident took place just after 3am this morning in Goose Green, Altrincham. 

Kano police foil terror attack, recover vehicle with explosive devices and arrest 200 suspected kidnappers, armed robbers and thugs (photos)

 The Kano State Police Command says it has foiled attacks by suspected terrorists and recovered a vehicle with prohibited firearms and explosive devices. 

 

The State Commissioner of Police, Samaila Shu’aibu Dikko, disclosed this on Thursday, July 21, 2022, while addressing pressmen at the Police Headquarters Bompai. 

 

"Team of Policemen led by CSP Alabi Lateef while on intelligence-led surveillance patrol along Chiranchi Dorayi Quarters Kano, in continuation of a case under investigation, intercepted a moving Mercedes Benz Motor Vehicle. While they were about to stop and search the vehicle, the occupants opened fire on the Policemen and the Operatives engaged the hoodlums ran away and abandoned the said motor vehicle," the CP stated. 

 

"Search conducted by a team of Explosive Ordnance Disposal Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Defence (EOD-CBRN), the following items were recovered from the vehicle; (1) Three (3) A47 rifles with magazines fully loaded with Ninety (90) rounds of ammunition (2) Fourteen (14) empty shell of AK47 ammunitions (3) Three different mobile phones (4) different types of Explosive Devices (IEDs)" he added. 

 

The Commissioner noted that discreet investigation is in progress with a view to arrest the hoodlums.

 

 

The CP also disclosed that 200 crime suspects were arrested from 27th June 2022 to 21st July 2022. 

 

The suspects were arrested for various offences including armed robbery, kidnapping, car theft, fraud, thuggery (Daba), drug abuse and others.

 

Giving the breakdown, the police boss disclosed that the suspects include 42 armed robbers, nine kidnappers, 16 fraudsters, and two human trafficking suspects.

 

Others are 27 motor vehicle and tricycle thieves, 12 suspected drug dealers and 92 suspected thugs (‘Yan Daba) 

 

 

Items recovered from the suspects include 25 Rifles, 3 AK-47s, one Micro Uzi, one Pistol, one Pump Action, 10 locally made Pistols and 9 dane guns.

 

Others are 12 Motor Vehicles, 7 Tricycles, 3 Motorcycles, 122 knives, 96 other Rod-made sharp weapons, 269 parcels and 265 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp valued Two Million, Seven Hundred and Twenty Five Thousand Naira (N2,725,000:00).

 

Also recovered were 74 bottles of Suck and Die Substance, 280 pieces of Exol Tablets, four Computer Laptops, 134 Mobile Phones and 16 Plasma TV sets. 

 

"In our effort to effectively Police Kano State, we intensify Community Policing engagements, constant raids of criminal hideouts and black spots, Intelligence-led and Visibility Policing, rapid response to distress calls, full adherence to the ethics of the Force and synergy with sister security agencies and community policing stakeholders." the Commissioner added. 

 

Below are details of the arrests: 

 

1. ARREST OF SUSPECTED FRAUDSTER:- On the 16/07/2022 at about 1400hrs, following prolonged intelligence gathering for the case of suspected fraud received on 04/03/2022 at about 1300hrs, from one Naziru Ahmad, ‘m’, of Hausawa Zoo Road Quarters, that on the 28/02/2022, he received a phone call from unknown person claimed to be Opay Agent, which the caller convinced him to Deposited the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000:00) to his Opay wallet account in other to get Opay P.O.S Machine for commercial purpose. After he deposited the sum of Three Hundred and Seventy Thousand Naira (N370,000:00), the money was immediately transferred out of his wallet to another wallet domiciled in Opay belonging to one Sadiq Umar Bello and One Hundred and Thirty-One (N131,000:00) was transferred to account number Domiciled in access bank belonging to one Bashir Ishak Bello. The said Sadiq Umar Bello, ‘m’ of Rijiyar Zaki was arrested for the crime. The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi ordered for discreet investigation. The case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

 

2. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBER:- On 16/07/2022 at about 1715hrs, information was received from a good Samaritan that unknown hoodlums numbering about ten (10) attacked one Rebecca Joshua, ‘f’ of kwakwachi mechanical village with dangerous weapons and robbed her valuables. On receipt of the report, a team of Policemen led by SP Auwalu Bala immediately swung into action, where the following suspects were arrested (1) Abba Ado, ‘m’ (2) Umar Zunairu, ‘m’ (3) Muhammad Abdulrazak, ‘m’ all of Fagge Quarters. On investigation, the following robbed valuables were recovered in their possession; (1) Handbag (2) Mobile phone Tecno valued at N80,000.00 (3) Two ATM Cards, and Cash, a sum of N30,000.00k. The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi ordered for discreet investigation. Suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

 

3. ARREST OF NOTORIOUS THIEVES AND RECOVERY OF EXHIBIT:- On 15/07/2022 at about 0230hrs, a team of Policemen led by SP Sani Garba, Divisional Police Officer Rijiyar Lemo Division while on surveillance patrol arrested the following suspects, (1), Nafiu Ibrahim, ‘m’ alias Mainasa (2) Aminu Jibrin, ‘m’ alias Kwadada (3) Auwalu Ibrahim, ‘m’ (4) Abdullahi Mamuda, ‘m’ alias Bulbuna and (5) Fatima Isah, ‘f’ all of the various addresses in possession large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp. On investigation, the suspects confessed to being a gang of thieves going around mostly at the night to break people's houses and robbed their properties. However, eight residents have lodged complaints and identified them as those that robbed them in their compounds. The Commissioner of Police, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi ordered for discreet investigation. Suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

 

4. ARREST OF SUSPECTED MOTOR VEHICLE THIEVES AND RECOVERY OF STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLE:- On 15/07/2022 at about 0300hrs, based on credible intelligence, a team of Policemen led by CSP Alabi Lateef swung into action and recovered a Toyota Hilux Motor Vehicle reasonable suspected to be robbed at the Niger Republic, in possession of one Aliyu Abdullahi, ‘m’, of Babura Jigawa State, Hassan Adam, ‘m’, of Niger Republic and Abduljabar Shaha, ‘m’, of Libya Republic. On investigation, the vehicle was identified by the owner Abubakar Isa Yahaya, ‘m’, of Kofar Ruwa. The suspects confessed to having bought the said vehicle from one Yahaya Ibrahim, ‘m’, of Niger republic at the rate of Eight Million Naira (N8,000,000:00) as a robbed vehicle. The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko fsi ordered for discreet investigation, after which suspects will be charged to court for prosecution.

 

5. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS AND RECOVERY OF EXHIBIT:- On 14/07/2022 at about 0200hrs, information was received from a good Samaritan that a gang of armed robbers invaded a resident at Kurna Quarters, Kano inflicted severe injuries on his body and robbed him the following items; Mobile Phones as; Nokia, Tecno, Itel, Tecno smartphone and Samsung smartphone valued One Hundred and Seventy Thousand Naira (N170,000:00) and his Honda Accord (Hennessey) key. On receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi raised and instructed a team of detectives led by SP Umar Lawal to arrest the culprits. The team immediately swung into action and arrested; Umar Abubakar, ‘m’, aged 20 years old alias Tumbin Salati of Kurna Tudun Fulani Quarters Kano and Musbahu Abubakar, ‘m’, 24 years old of Kurna Quarters. On investigation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the crime. Exhibits recovered include a long cutlass, long sharp iron rod, and stick. The investigation is in progress.

 

6. ARREST OF SUSPECTED TRICYCLE THIEVES:- On 14/07/2022 at about 1545hrs, based on intelligence gathering received, a team of policemen led by SP Nasiru Gusau, Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Gwale Division swung into action and arrested one Nasiru Sani, ‘m’, and Abba Musa, ‘m’, all of Gaida Quarters who were sighted deleting a Tricycle Karota Number on a suspected stolen Tricycle. The investigation is in progress.

 

7. ARREST OF NOTORIOUS THUGS, CULPABLE HOMICIDE SUSPECTS AND RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS:- On 13/07/2022 at about 1730hrs, a team of Policemen led by SP Nasiru Gusau, Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Gwale Divison while on intelligence-led patrol along Sani Mainagge Graveyard, intercepted and arrested one Ahmed Nura, alias “Tarkwado”, ‘m’, aged 20 years old, and one Hamisu Auwalu alias Kashim, ‘m’, aged 22 years old all of Dorayi Kan-Fako Quarters, Kano. They were arrested in possession of Indian Hemp, Suck and Die, Roll of Rubber solution, machete and scissors. On investigation, the suspects confessed to having taken part in many thuggery activities within the Kano metropolis and also to have taken part in killing one Salisu Dan Bros, ‘m’, of Ja’en Quarters Kano and one Dan-Jiji. The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi ordered the case to be transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation. The case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

 

8. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS AND RECOVERY OF STOLEN MOTORCYCLE:- On 13/07/2022 at about 0300hrs, information was received that unknown hoodlums numbering about 5 armed with dangerous weapons such as long knife, cutlass and stick attacked the resident of one Sani Ibrahim, ‘m’, aged 40 years old of Rijiyar Lemo Quarters, Kano inflicted severe injuries on his body and robbed his Lifan UD Motorcycle and mobile phone Tecno. On receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi raised and instructed a team of detectives led by SP Umar Lawal to arrest the culprits. The team immediately swung into action and arrested the following suspects, (1) Usman Ibrahim, ‘m’, aged 21 years old Kurna Quarters, (2) Junaidu Kabiru, ‘m’, aged 25 years old of Rijiyar Lemo Quarters. On investigation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the crime and mention their accomplices. Exhibits were robbed Lifan UD Motorcycle and mobile phone Tecno were recovered in possession of the suspects. The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko fsi ordered for discreet investigation and arrest of their accomplice. The case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

 

9. ARREST OF SUSPECTED MOTOR VEHICLE THIEVES AND RECOVERY OF STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLE:- On 13/07/2022 at about 1400hrs, a report was received from one Nazifi Ammani, ’m’, of Fagge Quarters, that on the 11/07/2022 he parked his Honda Motor Vehicle Golden colour along a joint at Kofar Famfo Kano to buy Shawarma for his girlfriend, but his girlfriend conspired with one other and stole the Motor Vehicle. On receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama'ila Shu'aibu Dikko fsi raised and instructed a team of Policemen led by CSP Abdulkarim Abdullahi, to recover the motor vehicle and arrest the culprits. The team immediately swung into action. On the same date at about 1330hrs, the said vehicle is recovered in possession of one Salisu Muhammad, ‘m’ aged 25 years old of Dandare Quarters Kano and his girlfriend Ramlat Kabir Karaye, ‘f’ 19 years old of the same address. Investigation revealed that Ramlat conspired with her boyfriend Salisu and lured the said Nazifi to the Shawarma joint where Salisu stole the vehicle. Suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

 

10. ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER:- On 12/07/2022 at about 1200hrs, a report was received from a resident of Makadi Farau village, Garko LGA, of Kano State, that on 09/07/2022 at about 0730hrs, he received an anonymous call from unknown mobile number threatening to kidnap him or any member of his family otherwise he must arrange Two Million Naira (N2,000,000:00) to give them as ransom. On receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’la Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi raised and instructed the team of Policemen led by SP Shehu Dahiru to arrest the culprit. The team immediately swung into action. On 15/07/2022 at about 1700hrs, one Isah Musa, ‘m’, aged 30 years old of the same address was arrested. On investigation, the suspect freely confessed to having conspired with one Sani, ‘m’, of Wudil LGA Kano and others at large to commit the crime. The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi ordered for discreet investigation and arrest of the fleeing suspect. The case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

 

11. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBER AND RECOVERY OF EXHIBIT:- On 08/07/2022 at about 2350hrs, a team of Policemen led by SP Sani Garba while on intelligence-led patrol arrested one Abubakar Muhammad, alias Dannema, ‘m’, of Rijiyar Lemo Quarters, Kano in possession of Dangerous weapons and some large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp. The suspect was also recognized as a long-time criminal who has been terrorizing innocent people with his Gang. The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko fsi ordered for discreet investigation. The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

 

12. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBER:- On 06/07/2022 at about 0330hrs, a report was received that unknown hoodlums attacked a residence at Yar Akwa Quarters Kano and threatened to kill the occupants and robbed them of their mobile phones, Plasma TV set, and cash, the sum of One Hundred and Fifty-Three Thousand Naira (N153,000:00). On receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command raised and instructed a team of detectives led by CSP Ahmed Abdullahi to arrest the culprits. The team immediately swung into action and arrested one Mahmud Idris, ‘m’, aged 30 years old of Na’ibawa Quarters Kano. In one investigation, one Pump Action Rifle was recovered from him. The suspect has been charged to court for prosecution.

 

13. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS:- On 04/07/2022 at about 2230hrs, a distress call was received that an angry mob was about to lynch some suspected Armed Robbers. Upon receipt of the information, a team of Policemen led by CSP Bashir Kachalla immediately mobilized to the scene where they rescue and arrested suspects. They are identified as Aminu Alhassan Ibrahim, ‘m’, aged 19 years old of Maidile Quarters, Muhammad Adam, ‘m’, aged 15 years old of Sabuwar Gandu Quarters and Yunusa Aliyu, ‘m’, aged 16 years old of Maidile Quarters. Investigation revealed that the suspects are among the hoodlums that terrorized Zoo Road and Hausawa Quarters Kano. Their Operational Tricycle and Sharp Knife were recovered at the scene. The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi ordered for discreet investigation. Suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

 

14. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS AND RECOVERY OF AK47 RIFLE:- On 02/07/2022 at about 0230hrs, a report was received that, unknown hoodlums armed with dangerous weapons, attacked the residence at Bakin Ruwa Village, Rano LGA Kano State, robbed Bajaj Boxer Motorcycle valued Two Hundred and Eighty Thousand Naira (N280,000:00). On receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi raised and instructed a team of detectives led by CSP Ahmed Abdullahi to arrest the culprits. The team immediately swung into action and arrested one Ado Bala. ‘m’, aged 25 years old, alias Danfulani. On investigation, one (1) AK-47 rifle was recovered from the suspect. The case has been charged to court for prosecution.

 

15. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS:- On 30/06/2022 at about 2100hrs, a report was received from a resident of Hausawa Quarters, that a syndicate of armed men attacked her with knives with dangerous weapons in a Tricycle along Bawo Road Kano. Her Mobile iPhone valued at Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000:00) was robbed. On receipt of the report, a team of Policemen led by CSP Bashir Kachalla immediately swung into action and mobilized to the scene, where one Muhammed Abdulsalam, ‘m’, aged 18 years old, of Jakara Quarters, was arrested with a sharp knife in an attempt to escape from the scene. On investigation, one Sadiq Ahmed Mu’azu, ‘m’, aged 24 years old of Hausawa Quarters was arrested at a graveyard and one Haruna Mohammed, ‘m’, aged 18 years old of Hausawa was arrested with the said Tricycle. However, two complainants manifested and identified the suspects as those that same attacked and robbed their Three (3) mobile phones valued at Two Hundred and Ninety-Seven Thousand Naira (N297,000:00) and Two (2) phone chargers. Two Tricycles and a knife were recovered from the suspects. The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi ordered for discreet investigation. The case will be charged to court upon the completion of the investigation.

 

16. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS AND RECOVERY OF ROBBED MOTOR VEHICLE, ARM AND AMMUNITION:- On 30/06/2022 at about 2205hrs, information was received that Armed Robbers attacked one Sunusi Mohammed in his residence at Yan’awaki Quarters Kano, and robbed his SUV-Jeep motor vehicle and his mobile phone. While attempting to escape with the robbed vehicle, they were involved in an accident, abandon the motor vehicle and escaped. On receipt of the report, the commissioner of police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko fsi raised and instructed a team of Policemen led by SP Umar Lawal to arrest the culprits. The team immediately swung into action. Following intelligence gathering, the following suspects were arrested, (1) Habibu Aliyu, ‘m’ aged 27 years old of Plateau State, (2) Sulaiman Aliyu, ‘m’, alias Dan-Bana, aged 25 years old all of Plateau State and (3) Aliyu Abdullahi m; alias Baba Ali, 24 years old of Naibawa Quarters Kano. On investigation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the crime and other series of robbery attacks in Kano. One Makarov Pistol, six (6) rounds of 9mm live ammunition and one empty shell were recovered in their possession. The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi ordered for discreet Investigation. Suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

 

17. ARREST OF SUSPECTED NOTORIOUS MOTOR VEHICLE THIEF:- On 29/06/2022 at about 1400hrs, a team of Policemen led by CSP Alabi Lateef while on surveillance patrol arrested one Jamilu Tijjani, ‘m’, aged 27 years old of Gyadi Gyadi Quarters Kano in possession of breaking implements and a toy gun. Investigation revealed that the suspect specialized in breaking into houses and stealing Motor Vehicles. He confessed to having stolen over fourteen (14) Motor Vehicles. An investigation is in progress.

 

18. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS AND RECOVERY OF STOLEN TRICYCLE: On 28/06/2022 at about 1600hrs, a report was received that, one Anas Abubakar, ‘m’, aged 20 years old, of Zangon Gabas Quarters Kano was attacked, stabbed with a sharp knife on his abdomen and robbed HIS Tricycle. On receipt of the report, a team of policemen led by SP Umar Lawal immediately swung into action, rushed the victim to a hospital for treatment, and forthwith arrested one Sadiq Sulaiman, ‘m’, aged 18 years old of Dorayi Quarters Kano, Nasiru Aminu, ‘m’, aged 19 years old of Galadanci Quarters Kano, and Sadi Abdulbaki, ‘m’, aged 18 years old of Sharada Quarters Kano. In the Investigation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the crime. The robbed Tricycle was recovered at Dawakin Kudu L.G.A. The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi ordered for discreet investigation and arrest of their compliance. The case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

 

19. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS:- On 28/06/2022 at about 0600hrs, information was received from a good samaritan that, unknown hoodlums attacked one Ahmed Abubakar Sani, ‘m’, aged 21 years old, of Zangon Dakota Quarters, Kano and robbed his Tricycle. On receipt of the report, a team of detectives led by SP Umar Lawal immediately swung into action and arrested the following suspects; (1) Salisu Suleiman, ‘m’, aged 18 years old of Dorayi Quarters Kano, Aminu Nasir, ‘m’, aged 18 years old of Galadanchi Quarters, Kano Sadi Abubakar, ‘m’, aged 18 years old of and Yusuf Bala, ‘m’, aged 32 years old of Sauna Quarters Kano. On investigation, the suspects confessed to the crime while the robbed tricycle was recovered in their possession. An investigation is in progress.

 

20. ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS AND RECOVERY OF AK-47 RIFLE:- On 27/06/2022 at about 1930hrs, a team of Policemen led by SP Shehu Dahiru while on intelligence-led patrol along Gwarzo Road by Ring Road Kano, intercepted gang of suspected Kidnappers on their way to Rogo LGA for a kidnapping mission. After an exchange of fire, the following suspects were arrested; (1) Sadam Sani, ‘m’, aged 26 years old of Gadon Kaya Quarters Kano (2) Ibrahim Lawan alias Chaka, ‘m’, 39 years old of Zoo Road Quarters Kano (3) Musa Darious, ‘m’, 43 years old of Langtang LGA of Plateau State, and (4) Sama’ila Grigori, ‘m’, aged 40 years old of Kumo LGA Gombe State. Exhibits recovered include; one AK-47 rifle, one magazine with seventeen (17) rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, one cutlass and four (4) sharp knives. On investigation, the suspect confessed to the crime. The Commissioner of Police, Kano Police Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi ordered for discreet investigation.

 

21. ARREST OF SUSPECTED MOTOR VEHICLE THIEF AND RECOVERY OF STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLE:- On 27/06/2022 at about 1630hrs, based on intelligence-led operations, one Haruna Shehu, ‘m’, was arrested in possession of a Motor Vehicle Hyundai Jeep Motor Vehicle, Black by a team of Policemen led by CSP Ahmed Abdullahi. On investigation, the suspect confessed that the vehicle was stolen from Lagos State. An effort is in progress to trace the owner.

 

22. ARREST OF SUSPECTED THUGS (YAN DABA) AND RECOVERY OF DANGEROUS WEAPONS AND ILLICIT DRUGS:- Raids were conducted between 27/06/2022 and 21/07/2022 by a team of Policemen led by CSP Bashir Musa Gwadabe, the officer in charge of Anti Daba Squad led to the arrest of 92 suspects and recovery of a large number of dangerous weapons and illicit drugs. 62 suspects were charged to court while 30 are under investigation. 

 

23: FOILED TERRORISM AND RECOVERY OF PROHIBITED FIREARMS AND EXPLOSIVE DEVICES:- Team of Policemen led by CSP Alabi Lateef while on intelligence-led surveillance patrol along Chiranchi Dorayi Quarters Kano, in continuation of a case under investigation, intercepted a moving Mercedes Benz Motor Vehicle. While they were about to stop and search the vehicle, the occupants opened fire on the Policemen and the Operatives engaged the hoodlums ran away and abandoned the said Motor Vehicle. Search conducted by a team of Explosive Ordnance Disposal Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Defence (EOD-CBRN), the following items were recovered from the vehicle; (1) Three (3) A47 rifles with magazines fully loaded with Ninety (90) rounds of ammunition (2) Fourteen (14) empty shell of AK47 ammunitions (3) Three different mobile phones (4) different types of Explosive Devices (IEDs). The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko fsi ordered for discreet investigation and arrest of the hoodlums. An investigation is in progress.
