The constitution of Ghana doesn't allow chiefs to take up position in political parties.
The current Chairman of Tema East NPP upon ascending to chieftancy has refused to resign and seeking a new mandate after his tenure of office. Concerned party members have allowed their lawyer to write to the General Secretary of the Party about this and asking him to tell him that he is not eligible to contest the upcoming constituency elections
